These requirements are part of every ContainerSpy order involving delivery. Review the practical Delivery Guide as well. The guide helps you plan; the assigned carrier makes the final safety decision.
The customer is responsible for disclosing access constraints before payment. Never ask a driver to proceed where the driver believes people, property, equipment, or the container could be harmed.
1. Legal and physical access
- The delivery address and route must legally permit the assigned commercial truck and trailer.
- Gates, roads, bridges, turns, slopes, and entrances must accommodate the complete vehicle, not only the container.
- The route and placement area must be free of parked vehicles, fences, branches, structures, soft shoulders, and other obstructions.
- You must disclose narrow roads, gated access, security procedures, steep grades, weight restrictions, or limited turnaround space before the carrier is scheduled.
2. Clearance and utilities
You must identify overhead power, telephone, cable, trees, roofs, signs, and other hazards. You are also responsible for identifying underground utilities, septic systems, irrigation, drainage structures, and any surface that may not support the loaded vehicle.
Tilt-bed placement requires substantial straight-line working room in addition to the container length. Exact requirements vary by trailer, terrain, and approach. Do not rely on a website estimate as carrier approval.
3. Surface and placement
The access route and placement area must be firm, reasonably level, and capable of supporting the loaded delivery equipment. Wet soil, loose fill, sand, mud, snow, ice, recently disturbed ground, and hidden voids can make delivery unsafe.
You are responsible for the foundation, blocks, piers, drainage, leveling, anchors, permits, setbacks, and long-term suitability of the placement area unless those services are expressly included in writing.
4. Placement instructions and attendance
Provide the desired door direction and final placement location before dispatch. An authorized adult who can approve placement must be reachable and, when required by the carrier, present at delivery. Repositioning after unloading is not included unless stated in the quote.
The driver will make reasonable efforts to follow approved instructions but may choose a safer position or decline the drop. Crane, side-loader, or other specialized placement is included only when specifically quoted.
5. Scheduling and delays
Delivery windows are estimates affected by weather, traffic, prior stops, equipment, and site conditions. We or the carrier will communicate material changes when reasonably possible. Please keep the delivery area open for the full confirmed window.
Waiting time, blocked access, customer-requested changes, failed delivery, storage, return transport, or redelivery may create additional charges. We will document and communicate those charges before rescheduling whenever practicable.
A delivery refused because the site does not match the information you confirmed at checkout incurs a restocking fee of 15% of the container price (minimum $350) plus the cost of the delivery attempt and return trip. See the Refund Policy.
6. Delivery inspection
When safe, inspect the container before the driver leaves. Confirm the type and condition, photograph all sides, and note visible transit damage or a material mismatch on the delivery document. Contact ContainerSpy promptly rather than directing the driver to perform unapproved repairs or placement work.
7. Permits and local rules
You are responsible for zoning, building, fire, environmental, HOA, landlord, road-use, and placement approvals. A completed delivery does not represent that the container or its use complies with local requirements.
Email photographs, measurements, and access details to sales@containerspy.com before approving the quote.
